1 – Can you start by telling us a little about your current book?

My latest book is SCAR which the final instalment in the Ink Trilogy. Living in a world where your life story is tattooed on your skin, Leora has been questioning everything she thought was certain. This books sees her owning her own story.

2 – Are you a plotter or a panster?

I am not sure! I don’t do a detailed plan but I also want to have some sense of where the story is heading. My first draft tends to be me working out the story as I write. I have to do A LOT of edits, which I find really tough.

3 – Savoury or sweet?

Man! Savoury – because I can’t give up bread.

4 – Three books to a desert Island. Go!

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness The Call by Peadar Ó Guilín.

5 – Star Wars or Star Trek?

Am I a total let-down if I say neither? I’ve just never quite got into them.

6 – If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation. I would love to be able to visit family and see the world without the faff of travel!

7 – You’re a professional wrestler. What would your ring name be?

Fatal Ice / Fat Alice – my husband gave me the name before we got together. What a catch.

8 – If you could live anywhere in the world, and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose?

I haven’t really travelled so I don’t know many places. Give me big skies, water and some woods to get lost in and I will be a happy girl.

9 - Your favourite karaoke song?

I’m not very brave, so anything that can mean about ten people come and sing it so I can hide in the back!

10 – One piece of advice to an aspiring writer?

Write because you love it – writing should add to life not take away from it.

11 – You win £1 million, but you must give half to charity. Which charity do you chose, and what do you do with the rest of the money?

I would give it to Scope because they do brilliant work and we’ve been on the receiving end of their help. I would love to give some to my family, pay off the house and maybe… if there is anything left, get a house we could have a holiday in. It’s hard for our family to get away.

12 – Horror films, yes or no?

Yes – as long as they’ve got something that intrigues me. I prefer to read horror, then I feel more in control!

13 - What are you currently working on?

I can’t say much because I’m in the process of pitching and idea, but if it all works out, you can be sure it will contain my usual obsessions: bodies and stories.
